I possess no tear of longing except one shed beside his door

واللي يگله بحماك نال مراده

للما يعتذر دوم مدينة الإيد
His hand is always a refuge for the one who doesn’t ask
حافظ ماي الوجوه، عم السادة
The preserver of the water of the faces (dignity), the uncle of the masters
قمر بني هاشم، وحدر ضلعي يدگ
Moon of Banu Hashim, beating beneath my ribs (in my heart)
قمر بني هاشم، ويغذيني عشگ
Moon of Banu Hashim, nourishing me with love
قمر بني هاشم، والخله روحي بالحچي تصدگ
Moon of Banu Hashim, who makes my soul believe the truth

عنواني أبا الفضل، والهوى الـ بالريه
My identity is Abu al-Fadl, and the air within my lungs
ويطهر بالأنفاس، واليصفي النية
He purifies every breath, and cleanses the intention
علي هو اليسمي، نور عين الزهرة
Ali is the one who calls him the light of al-Zahra's eye
ماي عيون الحسين، بي عطر بدوية
The tears in Husayn's eyes, carry the fragrance of a Bedouin woman (Ummul Baneen)

طب للحومة عباس ياخذ حيفه
Abbas entered the battle to avenge the wrong
برگاب الزلم گام ياكل سيفه
His sword began feeding upon the necks of men
ما ظل إلها مشراد والصايح صاح
No place of escape remained, and the crier cried
موت وقبض الأرواح كلها بكيفه
Death and the taking of souls were all at his command
قمر بني هاشم، وإذا سيفه صطر
Moon of Banu Hashim, and when his sword dominates
قمر بني هاشم، يحز وجه وظهر
Moon of Banu Hashim, it strikes faces and backs
قمر بني هاشم، سوه بالطف يوم عاشر طر
Moon of Banu Hashim, on the tenth at al-Taff he caused them havoc

يمركضهم ازحوف، من النهر للكوفة
He drove their ranks running from the river toward Kufa
وبيها امطاير الروس، حتى الأعمى يشوفه
And he made heads fly, so much so that even the blind could see it
ظل يتمشه ويدوس، عالشوارب جدمه
He strode onward, his feet trampling their proud moustaches
تاكل سطرته أرگاب، الحارات أچفوفه
His strike devoured necks, his palms blazing with fury
يا أبو فاضل، يا أبو فاضل، يا أبو فاضل
O Abu Fadl, O Abu Fadl, O Abu Fadl
من حيل الله عباس حيل ازنوده
From the strength granted by God comes the strength of Abbas's arms
مثكولة أمه اليجيس خط أحدوده
May his mother be bereaved, whoever dares cross the line of his bounds
موجودات الأجساد فوگ التربان
The bodies remain there upon the earth
والسبعين ألف راس ما موجوده
But seventy thousand heads are nowhere to be found

Moon of Banu Hashim, lion of the fiercest battle

Moon of Banu Hashim, he left devastation within it
