ربعي بكل خلايا الدم

My companions are in every cell of my blood

إلهم موقف وثاية

Their stand is a landmark

گالوا: خويه لا تهتم

They said, "Our brother, do not worry

ما توگعلك حجايه

Not a word of yours will fall to the ground

والتفرضه عليه نرضه

Whatever you place upon us, we are pleased with it"

عابس بعز الهوه

Abis, at the height of love

ذب الهدوم ونوه

Cast off his armour and declared

ننذبح بالطف سوه

"Let us be slaughtered together at al-Taff"

ما رجف، لا

He did not tremble, no

اتخذ ليلك جمل

"Take the night as a camel” (Imam Husayn telling the companions they can leave during the night)

گتله، لكن ما قبل

I told them, but they would not accept

احنه ربعك لو أهل؟

"Are we your companions, or your family?"

أهلي والله

"My family, by Allah"

نخيت المو نحس طبعه

I called upon the one whose nature knows no baseness

صحت: يا حارس البضعة

I cried, "O guardian of the Sacred Piece (Sayyida Fatima)"

نذر روحه وشمر درعه

He vowed his soul and cast off his armour

محلاه

How beautiful he was

جنونك قدوة للعاقل

Your madness is an example for the sane

ضميرك للحرب نازل

Your conscience descended into the battle

وحق جفوف أبو فاضل

And by the palms of Abu al-Fadl

أهواه

I love him

كون اليعشگ وينجن

If one is to love and go mad

هذا الينقبل عشگه

This is the love worth loving

معذور الگلب لو حن

The heart is excused if it yearns

سيف ابن آدم الفرگه

Separation is the sword of the children of Adam

عشگ مرضه

Love is an illness

عليه نرضى

We are pleased with it

إلهم موقف وثاية

گالوا: خويه لا تهتم

They said, "Our brother, do not worry

ما توگعلك حجايه

Not a word of yours will fall to the ground

والتفرضه عليه نرضه

Whatever you place upon us, we are pleased with it"

حچي أسولف بالربع

Let me speak about my companion

صاروا لزينب درع

They became a shield for Zaynab

شيخ الأنصار السبع

The Shaykh of the Ansar, the lion

الله حياه

May Allah greet him (Habib ibn Madhahir)

گال لها: عد عينچ زلم

He told her, "Before your eyes are men

مو حبيب الينهزم

Habib is not one to be defeated"

هي گالت: والنعم

She said, "And what a man

زلمة تنخاه

A man you can call upon for aid"

بشر يستاهل نگدره

A man worthy of our honour

ونسجله بدفتر الزهرة

I would write him in al-Zahra's register

وأگعده بصفي بالحضرة

And seat him beside me in the Sacred Presence

وياي

With me

بخت، مو شيبة عادية

What fortune, his is no ordinary grey hair

مجاهد مية بالمية

A fighter, one hundred percent

يگلي: الدنيا مگضية

He tells me, "The world is worthless (compared to you)

مولاي

My master"

گالوا: شايب ومن هد؟

They said, "An old man, who could bring him down?"

مشه المعركة بكيفه

He walked through the battle as he pleased

هذا الما دخلها ورد

He entered it and never returned

إلا ومنثلم سيفه

Except with his sword chipped

يا رب حفظه

O Lord, preserve him

عليه نرضه

With him we are pleased

گالوا: خويه لا تهتم

They said, "Our brother, do not worry

ما توگعلك حجايه

Not a word of yours will fall to the ground

والتفرضه عليه نرضه

Whatever you place upon us, we are pleased with it"

واضح وما ينخفي

Clear and impossible to hide

موقف الحر الوفي

Is the stand of faithful Hurr

كون أذكره وأكتفي

To mention it alone would be enough

گلبه دلاه

His heart guided him

أحچي عن الكاهلي

Should I speak of al-Kahili

لو شبيب النهشلي

Or Shabib al-Nahshali?

هذا يتنفس علي

This one breathes Ali

يهوى مولاه

He loves his master

كنانة التغلبي تقدم

Kinana al-Taghlibi stepped forward

وصل يم زينب وسلم

He reached Zaynab and gave his salam

أخوتي ووقعوا بالدم

They are my brothers, and they fell into blood

والله

By Allah

يزيد العبدي ما قصر

Yazid al-Abdi never fell short

بعدني بمكة وتحضر

While I was still in Mecca, he presented himself

حلفلي يحامي عالخدر

He swore to me that he would defend the veiled women

بدماه

With his blood

بيهم رافع الأزدي

Among them is Rafi al-Azdi

بيهم نافع وعامر

Among them are Nafi and Amir

بيهم سالم العبدي

Among them is Salim al-Abdi

بيهم مسلم الطاهر

Among them is pure Muslim

والتحفظه

And the ones who protected him

عليه نرضه

With them we are pleased

ربعي بكل خلايا الدم

گالوا: خويه لا تهتم

They said, "Our brother, do not worry

ما توگعلك حجايه

Not a word of yours will fall to the ground

والتفرضه عليه نرضه

Whatever you place upon us, we are pleased with it"

ذوله خوتهم صدگ

These are true brothers

ذوله دلالي اليدگ

These are the darlings which my heart beats for

أجمل وأطهر عشگ

The most beautiful and purest love

احنه عشناه

That we ever experienced

الله قرر ننجمع

Allah decreed that we gather

والتگينا بهالوضع

And we met in this very state

يختلط دم الربع

The blood of the companions mixing together

احنه ردناه

This is what we wanted

زلم ما رخصوا بيه

Men who never cheapened me

ولا خانتهم النية

Whose intentions never betrayed them

زلم گالولي: مگضية

Men who told me, "It is settled

لا تحير

Do not be bewildered"

حلاة اليوگع بشدة

How beautiful for one who falls into hardship

مثل هاي الربع عنده

To have companions like these

ربع ما ممكن ترده

Companions you could never turn back

شيصير

Whatever happens

تنخاهم يجيك الرد

Call upon them and the answer comes:

تبشر يا هوه الرية

"Glad tidings, O air of the lungs"

واحدهم بألف ينعد

Each one of them counts as a thousand

نزفوا يمي حنية

They bled tenderness beside me

على لحظة

For even a moment with them

عليه نرضى

I am pleased with them

They said, "Our brother, do not worry

ما توگعلك حجايه

Not a word of yours will fall to the ground

والتفرضه عليه نرضه

Whatever you place upon us, we are pleased with it"

طبع اليخون الملح

The nature of one who betrays the clear guide (the word salt is used in arabic to describe someone so clearly right)

أعوج وما ينصلح

Is crooked and cannot be straightened

يبتسم من تنجرح

He smiles when you are wounded

هذا تلگاه

That is the kind you will find

وآنه خاويت الشهم

But I befriended the noble ones

والمقدس، والمهم

And the sacred, and what matters is

أنصه واحد عالنجم

I take each one above the stars

الله علاه

Allah Himself raised them

لگيت التركي والطائي

I found the Turk (Aslam) and the Ta'i (Amis)

لگيت الحضرمي الواعي

I found the conscious Hadrami (Bashir, who stayed with Imam Husayn even after receiving news that his son was captured in Yemen)

لگيت اليلزم شراعي

I found the one who would catch my sail

لو طاح

If it were to fall

لگيت الغيرة بنصاري

I found protective honour in my Ansar

أخوتي وأعظم أسراري

My brothers and my greatest secrets

إجوني وأمنت ثاري

They came to me, and I knew my vengeance

ما راح

Would never be lost

ركضوا ركضة الينجن

They ran like ones gone mad

من يحشمه محبوبه

When their beloved calls upon his honour

ما گالوا: نموت ألمن؟

They never asked, "For whom are we dying?"

ذيچ الليلة مكتوبة

That night was already written

والنعوضه

And whatever we are given in return

عليه نرضه

We are pleased with it
