My patience is disgraceful, and what's praised for me is sorrow
And for me, hatred and love are the law of my faith
Night and day, I curse those who said "so what" (Referring to Umar who said that when told that Sayyida Fatima was behind the door)
Were it not for that "so what", they would not have slaughtered my Husayn
(I curse) Those who sprang forth to oppress the Family of Muhammad
While Muhammad lay there without even being shrouded yet
After the Prophet, while his body was still getting washed
Against him the Ummah turned away
And they had no shame
They told him, "Thank you for what you gave us"
Their thanks was the breaking of his daughter's rib
And the burning of his house was the reward they gave
Weariness found rest when its fate became entwined
With one who has no protective honour
The reward of al-Mustafa was love
So why was his vizier taken away by a rope?
The Day of the Door is the root of the Day of Torment
The Day of the Door is the root of the Day of Torment
Everyone in this world became occupied with their own soul
While my soul became occupied with the tears of my eyes
Those who said, "The Messenger of Allah has passed, so now everything is over"
Were the cause of every oppression that passed through my years
Those who entered upon al-Batul (the Pure Lady) in her home
And caused her dearest unborn child to fall
The Prophet was merciful to his companions
So which of them would defend the door?
That Muhsin fell slain against
And the one who laid the foundation of the oppression of killing children
Was repeated on Karbala in the form of an arrow
That cut the throat of the infant (Ali Al-Asghar)
The tragedy of Fatima and her sorrow
Rabab inherited it through her son
The Pure One's chest flowed with blood
At al-Taff, Rabab's nursing went to waste
At the doorway, lies the root of Rabab's wound
The Day of the Door is the root of the Day of Torment
A day must come when I meet her oppressor
Crucified upon the tree, and I demand my due from him
My eyelid does not meet my other eyelid due to my sleeplessness
And for those who forbade her lament, I begin my own lament
At those who cut down the arak tree so that she could not rest
Beneath the shade of its leaves and branches
The House of Sorrows bears witness to her weeping
She mourns, with Zaynab beside her
Teaching her how to lament
Tomorrow, when they attack her tents
She will return to weeping her mother's weeping
Over the looted body
The tears of Fatima were heavy
They were wept again with Zaynab the wise lady
The Pure One (cried) there beneath the arak tree
And her daughter (cried) upon the litter of the frail camel
And the Bedouins laid the foundation of every tragedy
The Day of the Door is the root of the Day of Torment
