A Karbala'i mawlid (set of birthdays)

يا گلبي

O my heart

الطاير من ضلوعي

Flying out from between my ribs

أسرع من دموعي

Faster than my tears

يحچي عن موضوعي

Speaking of what fills me

لحسيني

For my Husayn

المن صدگ حبيته

The one I truly love

گلبي يشبه بيته

My heart is in the form of his house

وآنه زاير جيته

And I came to him as a visitor

وبشعبان

And in Sha'ban

شع وبان

He shone and appeared

ضوه الدنيا خده

His cheek lit up the world

حضن الزهرة مهده

Zahra embraced his cradle

هذا حسين

This is Husayn

بينه وبين الله شگد مودة

How much love there is between him and Allah

عقلي التاه

My wandering mind

إي والله

Yes, by Allah

راد يزور ولفه

Wanted to visit its beloved

أمشي وبيه لهفة

I walk with its longing within me

لأهل البيت

To Ahl al-Bayt

فطرس جيت

Futrus came (an Angel who sought healing from Imam Husayn’s cradle)

جنحي يريد يشفه

His wing seeking to be healed

تدري الخيمة والماي

The tent and the water know

سيد كربله الجاي

The Master of Karbala has come

عدهن هالمسه اوياي

Tonight I have them here with me

مولد كربلائي

بين بالسما هلال

A Karbala'i mawlid

والثاني

And the second

المقترن بأنفاسي

Entwined with my very breaths

باسمه رافع راسي

With his name I hold my head high

فأنا العباسي

For I am Abbasi

من چفوفه

From his palms

شما ردت ينطيني

Whatever I ask, he gives me

خيره تارس عيني

His goodness fills my eyes

هو المربيني

He is the one who raised me

وبدنياي

And throughout my life

عاش وياي

He has lived beside me

آنه بزوده كامل

Through his valour I am complete

حرزي بيا بو فاضل

My protection is Abu al-Fadl

حيدر بيه ومربيه

Haydar is within him, and the one who raised him

حلال المشاكل

Is the Solver of Problems

من الكرار

From al-Karrar

وارث صار

He became an inheritor

إيمانه وثباته

Of his faith and steadfastness

من أول حياته

From the very beginning of his life

حيدر گال

Haydar said

هالكفال

"This guardian

يتكفل خواته

Will be the protector of his sisters"

عباس الميادين

Abbas of the battlefields

تربية أم البنين

Raised by Umm al-Banin

فرحة قلب الحسين

The joy of Husayn's heart

للثالث

For the third

گلبي غنى وناده

My heart sang and called

وي فجر ميلاده

With the dawn of his birth

هلا بزين السادة

Welcome to the adornment of the masters

سبحانه

Glory be to Him

الخالقه سبحانه

Glory be to the One who created him

جمع كل إحسانه

He gathered all His goodness

وأنبته بوجدانه

And made it grow within his being

هالسجاد

This is al-Sajjad

والعباد

And all the worshippers…

كلها تظل وراه

Remain behind him

ما يقطع رجاه

His hope is never cut off

يدعي هواي

He supplicates to such a huge extent

لأن بهاي

For in this

الله يحب دعاه

Allah loves his supplication

نهر إحساس

A river of feeling

واعله الناس

Above all people

چفه شگد تصدق

How much his palm has given in charity

يشهد له الفرزدق

Al-Farazdaq (a poet of the ahlulbayt) bears witness to him

ابن الزهراء

The son of al-Zahra

والبطحاء

And al-Batha (the valley of Mecca)

تعرف وطأته الحق

Truly knows his tread

يشهد له الحرم كون

The Haram itself bears witness to him

والحل واللي يحجون

As do the Hill and those who truly perform Hajj

هاي الليلة يدرون

Tonight, all of them know, it is

بين بالسما هلال

مولد كربلائي

A Karbala'i mawlid

والرابع

And the fourth

أكبر بكل معنى

Is Akbar in every meaning

وابن سيد الجنة

The son of the Master of Paradise

جده حيدر چنه

He was a repeat of his grandfather Haydar

واعيوني

By my eyes

والگلب ما عافه

My heart never left him

ينسحر من شافه

Whoever sees him is enchanted

أحمدية أوصافه

His qualities are Ahmadi (like Muhammad's)

يا محلاه

How beautiful he is

جل الله

Exalted is Allah

ما خالق شبيهه

He created none like him

لازم حكمة بيها

There must be a wisdom in it

شبل حسين

The cub of Husayn

قرة عين

The delight of the eye of

ليله ابضي عليها

Layla, which shined for her

ما مطروق

Unprecedented

حسنه يفوق

His beauty surpasses

كل حسن البرية

All the beauty of creation

درة حيدرية

A Haydari pearl

شيطلع غير

What else could he become

رابي بخير

Raised in goodness

من بيت الزچية

From the house of the Pure Lady

أكبر وابن الكبار

Akbar, the son of the great ones

فارس كربله صار

He became the knight of Karbala

فرحة كل الأحرار

The joy of all the free

مولد كربلائي

A Karbala'i mawlid

والخامس

And the fifth

هيه طفلة صغيرة

She is a little girl

وبفعلها اجبيرة

But she is great in her actions

عم ضواها الديرة

Her light spread across the land

تعرفها

Karbala knows her

كربلا وشافتها

And Karbala saw her as

وردة يم عمتها

A rose beside her aunt

وبصدق حبتها

And she truly loved her

مثل الماس

Like a diamond

بين الناس

Among the people

شعت هالمسية

She shone that evening

بنت حسين هيه

She is the daughter of Husayn

رب الكون

The Lord of the universe

أوحى يكون

Willed that she should

تتسمى رقية

Be named Ruqayya

بالأيام

In years

خمس أعوام

Only five years

صح مدة قصيرة

Yes, a short span

بس عاشت أميرة

But she lived as a princess

عاشت بين

She lived between

چف حسين

The palm of Husayn

وچف بدر العشيرة

And the palm of the Moon of the family (Abbas)

طفلة وشايلة أحلام

A child carrying dreams

صارت وردة الشام

She became the rose of Sham

إلها بهاي الأيام

She too has her days of celebration

A Karbala'i mawlid

يا أيها الشمس التي خلف السحب

O sun that is behind the clouds

فلتبزغي ولتكشفي كل الحجب

Rise forth and uncover every veil

وصلي إمام زماننا قولي له

Reach the Imam of our Time and tell him

عجل فما للعاشقين سواك حب

Hasten, for the lovers have no love but you
