عن داود الرقي قال: قلت لأبي عبد الله عليه السلام كيف أدعو الله أن يرضى عني إمامي؟ قال: تقول: اللهم رب إمامي وربي، وخالق إمامي وخالقي، ورازق إمامي ورازقي، ارض عني وأرض عني إمامي
Dawud al-Raqqi said: I asked Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him: "How should I pray to Allah so that my Imam is pleased with me?” He said: "Say: O Allah, Lord of my Imam and my Lord, Creator of my Imam and my Creator, Provider of my Imam and my Provider, be pleased with me, and make my Imam pleased with me."

ارض عني وأرض عني إمامي

خصه رب البرية وأحمد
That the Lord of creation and Ahmad have granted distinction
خشب المنبر فيه رافع صوت الأسى
The wood of its minbar raises the voice of sorrow
مثل تل الزينبية تجسد
Taking form like the hill of Zainab (where she watched Imam Husayn being slaughtered)
فوقه يرسم ضلع أم تراها قبة
Upon it, a rib is drawn, or do you see it as a dome? (referring to Sayyida Fatima’s broken rib)
فالدعا عبرة الزكية سيصعد
Then through the tear of the Pure Lady (Sayyida Fatima), the supplication will ascend
يا إلهي في الحسينية اسمع دعائي
O my Lord, in the Husayniyya, hear my prayer
يا إلهي من إمام الزمان رجائي
O my Lord, my only hope is the Imam of the Time
يا إلهي في رضاه رضاك رضائي
O my Lord, in his pleasure is Your pleasure, and my pleasure
يا إلهي

اللهم رب عزاء الحسين
O Allah, Lord of the mourning of Husayn
بخدمة الحسين وحرمته
By the service of Husayn and his sanctity
بشيعة الحسين ونصرته
By the Shia of Husayn and his victory
وفقني، وأرض عني إمامي
Grant me success, and make my Imam pleased with me
اللهم رب إمامي وربي
O Allah, Lord of my Imam and my Lord
وخالق إمامي وخالقي
Creator of my Imam and my Creator
ورازق إمامي ورازقي
Provider of my Imam and my Provider
ارض عني وأرض عني إمامي

قيل عني خادم عند حسين قلت لا
It is said of me, you are "A servant of Husayn", but I said, "No"
إن جبرائيل خادم ويفخر

بجبهة الحبيب ونحره
By the forehead of the Beloved and his throat
بأضلع الحبيب وصدره

اقبلني، وأرض عني إمامي

ولكي أضمن من مولاي ألطاف الرضا
And so that I may attain from my Master the graces of his pleasure
سأنادي: آه زينب، غريبة
I will cry, "O Zaynab, the one left all alone"
ناح في ناحية الجرح لها يبكي دما

تنظر الأيتام تضرب رقيبة

بل سياط الكفر أعجب مصيبة
Yet the whips of disbelief are an even greater calamity
ما وجودي غير تعليق لون السواد؟
What is my existence without always keeping with me the colour black?
ما وجودي للتي متنها ذو اسوداد؟
What is my existence beside the one whose back was darkened (with whips)?

بزينب تشد على المطا
By Zaynab, bound upon the mounts
بزينب تساق بلا غطا
By Zaynab, driven away without a covering
استرني، وأرض عني إمامي
Protect me, and make my Imam pleased with me
